Before the commencement of the 620 km PadYatra from Yamnoutri to Mathura, the villagers and priest community of Yamunotri desired that the founder of project Aatmanirbhar society should reconstruct and refurbish a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in the village town of Kharsali. The last time this temple was the renovated in the year 1983 and it was after 40 years, that the temple got a makeover which was then dedicated to the people of the Yamuna Valley.
