620 km Yamuna Jal Kalash Pad-Yatra

Lord Shri Krishna performed infinite pastimes on the banks of Shri Yamuna.

Shri Yamuna ji is the first born daughter of Lord Shri Suryanarayan a diety worshipped across in the world in different cultures. Lord Surya is known as Ra in Egyptian, Sol in Norse, Helios in Greece, Arinna in Hittite, Surya in Vedas, Huitzilopochtli in The Aztec, Inti in Incan, Kinich Ahau in Mayan.

In vedas Shri Yamuna is referred to as Yami, the twin-sister of Yama, the God of Death and also the sister of Lord Shani, the God of Justice. It is also mentioned that both Yama and Yami were the first born twins and Yama was the first mortal who ruled the realm of the dead (pitrus) whereas, Yami was immortal. Hence, Yamuna is considered Life whereas her twin brother Yama is Death.

Now the question arises, whether we mortals just wait and watch for the brothers of Yamuna to get her justice, or do we become self-reliant and run a campaign to ensure Yamuna waters to be purified.

This created world has come into existence through man and nature (Purush and Prakriti) and if we (Purush) attack that same nature, will nature tolerate it?

Even today, after hundreds of efforts by various organizations and spending thousands of crores, Maa Yamuna (worshipped as divine mother) still awaits justice.

Imagine Yamuna as a baby girl in Yamunotri (its origin in Himalayas), who then takes the form of a wife (in Indraprashta – modern day Delhi) after being accepted by Lord Krishna as his consort wife in the form of Kaalindi (Bhagwat Puran —-).

Then, as a mother she reaches Braj (Mathura Vrindavan), finally flowng towards Prayag where she ends her journey after meeting the holy Ganga. As per Prayag Mahatmya, the river that flows from here carries the name of Ganga, but the waters of Yamuna, for Yamuna has the power to salvage all souls of the departed in the Land of Kashi (Varanasi).

Ranjeet Chaturvedi Pathak (born in Vrindavan), founder of Project Aatmanirbhar, swept with emotions, decided to bring the pristine Yamuna water from Yamunotri to Braj ((20 March 2021 – 18 April 2021) and celebrated the end of this pilgrimage by invoing all the resident deities of Braj on the festival of Yamuna Chhath.

This 620 km foot pilgrimage was undertaken by both the Paternal (Brijwasis) and Maternal (Yamunotri) side of Yamuna Ji, to witness the pouring of this pristine child-like waters of Yamuna from Yamnoutri in the devastated Yamuna ji at Punya-Tirth Vishramghat (Mathura).

In the scientific context, and medical terminology it was blood infusion or stem-cell therapy. Just as a patient needs new oxygen and external life support from its similar blood group or umbilical cord, on the birthday of Mother Yamuna, her children tried to revive her in Braj.

What could be a better gift than this to an ailing mother on her birthday!

Confluence of Devotion (Yamnoutri) and Faith (Mathura)

The four dhams or holy pilgrimage in Himalayas in which Yamunotri has been associated with Devotion, Gangotri with Knowledge, Kedarnath with Renunciation, Badrinath with Salvation.

Yamuna is the goddess of action along with devotion so if there is no devotion in both knowledge or action, then one is inspired by ego and impurities, and hence all the efforts for Mother Yamuna have been limited to Delhi NCR or Mathura, but none from Yamunotri, which is the source of devotion.

On the other hand, less is known about the glory of Vishram Teerth (Mathura), a place of supernatural importance and as per Adi-Varah Purana, Lord Krishna is found here at the time of sunrise, during midday at Dhirga-Vishnu, and evening at Keshavdevji.

The glory of Lord Shri Krishna remains special, it is said in Saur Purana that by taking bath in Yamuna Ji at Vishram Teerth one attains Vaikuntha, as it is one hundred times more virtuous than even Kurukshetra.  It is here at Vishram Teerth (Mathura), Shri Krishna and Balram ji rested here after killing uncle Kans.

Shri Yamunaji also rested here after coming to the earth from Golokdham.

Jagadguru Shri Vallabhacharyaji also had darshan of Mother Shri Yamunaji at the same pilgrimage and praised her through Yamunashtak.

We too will rest here after freeing Yamuna from the pollution in the form of Kaliya (serpent) and Kansa.
